Sports Complex Insult.
Sports Complex row has taken a final and decisive shape in the wake of yesterday's events. Certain employees were trying to bully around in the complex for quite sometime now. Reports had been filtering but non single event had been of the magnitude that created sufficient interest. The same employees created fuss over badminton with Usman and few other guys. Usman reported the incident to the Manager of the Sports Complex who was unable to solve the matter. Rather neglected the incident completely.
Yesterday the same employees came to the gym and attacked Usman with blows and kicks while he was alone for a minute and none of us around him. Matter got worse. The manager was herald in who took both parties to his office turn by turn.
The news reached the Male Hostel and people were rushed from here to see what was going on. There the manager in utter disregard of just proceedings took Usman as the guilty party. And accused him, quite inappropriately and openly, of misconduct in past. Usman with his tattered shirt, and in complete shock tried to defend himself but all his pleas were completely and entirely disregarded by the manager. He openly took sides with the aggressors who purported this physical violence on Usman and provided them security while at the same time he humiliated not only Usman but other medical students not under roof but in the open with many by standers around. The manager asked the students to leave the premises and trefused to provide any assurances as to the action he would like to take against those guilty of the crime. He claimed that we, the medical students, were mischief creators and wanted to start a fight and disrupt normalcy in the area. He quite intentionally portrayed us as a threat to the environment and to the security of those around. He advised us to return to the medical school and ask for basic human rights only there as according to him we had no rights in the complex premises.( which by the way was constructed for the medical students and the faculty in the first place). The manager has been guilty of siding with the mischief creators for his own reasons. Had he taken a suitable course of action after teh frst incident the successive events would never have taken place. Again his dealing with the medical students was such as to provoke violence so that he could take action against them on that basis.
Altogether this incident was sad and speaks volumes of the fact that a single individual failed to provide necessary justice which resulted in physical and more so emotional damage to a number of medical students. Physical wounds will heal and may find reciprocacity in those who inflicted them but emotional damage done to already crippled medical students will leave a scar.
